Tseetech has developed the best contactless power module pair for such kinds of applications. This module set is called TE03. The below table summarizes its characteristics. The transmitter and receiver coils are 120mm x 120mm in size, the transmitter and receiver PCBA are smaller than the coil and thin. So one can easily stack them to be a compact module to install on the vehicles and parking docks. This module pair can charge the regular 48V battery or 36V battery with a charging current up to 4A. 48Vdc powers the transmitter part, so either an AC adaptor or solar energy storage can be the power source of the parking dock. The transmitter has the foreign object detection function (FOD), so even a tiny coin falls onto the transmitter coil surface, the power transfer stops immediately to avoid the risk of abnormal temperature rise.

Here we discuss the power transfer performance of TE03. We define the contactless power transfer distance as the transmitter coil to the receiver coil in the Z-axis, shown in the below figure. And X-Y axes mean the coil shift in the horizontal position.

First of all, we use TE03 to charge a 48V (13S) battery with a 4A charging current. The below table shows the result. We can see that TE03 can provide a sufficient 4A charging current from Z=15cm to 35mm, with XY shift up to 20mm. Even at the most significant deviated condition ( Z=35mm/X=20mm/Y=20mm), the end-to-end efficiency keeps higher than 88%. We suggest using the TE03 at the typical situation when Z=20mm~25mm and XY=0mm, with a 91% end-to-end efficiency. There is around 10W heat generated separately at the vehicle and the parking dock in the worst case, which can be easily handled by the passive thermal dissipation method like using the stem and parking dock as heatsinks.
